THE CAMPAIGN FOR MARIAN COLLEGE
The Chapel
“The Mary MacKillop Chapel at the North Parade site was in daily use and this new chapel will make living our faith part of everyday life at Marian College. Mary MacKillop is a role model for our school and her faith, courage and commitment are examples to us all. This beautiful sacred space is essential to our shared Catholic faith and will support and encourage the faith journey of our students and school community.”
MARY-LOU DAVIDSON - PRINCIPAL
The St Mary of the Cross MacKillop Chapel is the heart of the school and will be situated through the front entrance of the new building. This will be a place for students and staff to spend time in prayer and reflection, and to share Mass and liturgies. The chapel roof will feature the star pattern of 25 March 1982 when Marian College first opened. The 100-seat chapel will be made from timber sustainably sourced from Nelson. The size allows for Wā Whānau groups, year level or class Masses, liturgies and retreats. It will also be able to be shared with our whānau, parish, local schools and past pupils.

“The Chapel matters to me because faith is an important aspect of my life. I chose to go to Marian College so I could strengthen my faith with God. A Chapel will be a space to be quiet and still with Him.”
